Kashmir's to observe Black Day tomorrow

Pakistanis felicitated on Independence Day

Srinagar, August 14 (KMS): Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world will observe the Indian Independence Day, tomorrow, as Black Day to convey the message to the international community that India had usurped the Kashmiris’ inalienable right to self-determination.
The day will be marked by a complete strike in occupied Kashmir and protest rallies in the world capitals. Call for the observance of the Black Day has been given by the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik and other Hurriyet leaders. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said that India had no moral justification to celebrate its Independence Day in the occupied territory as it had suppressed all the fundamental freedoms of the Kashmiri people. APHC leaders, Yasmeen Raja and Mukhtar Ahmed Waza in their statements said, India’s claims of being the largest democracy of the world stand exposed in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the occupation authorities have turned the entire territory into a military garrison ahead of the Indian Independence Day. A large number of Indian troops and police personnel are patrolling roads and streets, causing inconvenience to the people. Sharp shooters have been deployed in strength in all sensitive areas and vital installations in Srinagar. Strict checking of vehicles and pedestrians is being carried out in all major towns.
On the other hand, Hurriyet leaders, Nayeem Ahmed Khan and Ghulam Ahmed Mir addressing the meetings of their parties while Aasiya Andrabi, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash and Javed Ahmed Mir in their separate statements felicitated the government and the people of Pakistan on the occasion of their Independence Day. They said that despite difficulties Pakistan was continuously supporting the Kashmiris’ just liberation movement on moral, political and diplomatic grounds.
The APHC-AJK chapter organised a function at its office in Islamabad on the occasion of the Independence Day of Pakistan. The speakers said that the strong and stable Pakistan was a key to the success of the Kashmiris’ liberation struggle.
In London, the Executive Director of Kashmir Centre, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, in a statement said that a peaceful demonstration would be held outside the Indian High Commission, tomorrow, to mark India’s Independence Day as Black Day.
